On the 4th and 16th of April of 2014, we welcomed 2 school trips from Colégio Português and Quinta dos Pequenotes, respectively.
Two groups of curious youngsters, aged between 4 and 6 years, filled our factory with joy, smiles and goodwill. Learning about the Bread cycle by “breathing in” the bakery environment was the reason for the visit by the groups of children.
Accompanied by their teachers and guided around by our Master baker and pâtissier, Mr. Oliveira, the mini apprentices had the chance to get their hands in the dough and become bakers for a day. With plenty of dough, flour and a healthy dose of creativity, a lot of works of art were produced by our new bakers, who had their hands full with so much work.
Dressed for the occasion, the apprentices followed instructions given by the Master Baker and found out that good machines are necessary to bake great bread.
A spiral mixer for mixing, dough sheeter for making sheets of pastry… This was the lesson learned, with a great smelling traditional Folar de Páscoa noticed by anybody passing by…
The youngsters, concentrated on the production process, continued working, because being a baker means being responsible, alert and, of course, very helpful, appreciating the art of the bakery.
To the new bakers and their teachers who joined us over these 2 days, as well as the Colégio Português and Quinta dos Pequenotes institutions, many thanks for your visit.
